The city of Craig, Colorado seen from Thompson Hill, south of Craig.
The city covers an area of about three miles east to west, and two miles north to south.
The range of mountains in the background are the Elk Head mountains of the Sierra Madre range.
Cedar Mountain is the remains of a 29 million year old Volcano.
Rising above the high altitude prairie, the mountain is home to deer, eagles, and a mountian lion or two. Bobcat, rabbits, and rattle snakes all can be found on the rocky, cedar covered mountain.
The highcountry is the home of some amazing weather patterns.
The morning sky may be clear and a deep blue. As the day warms up, the moisture in the mountains is drawn off and forms cloud banks.
"Thunderboomers", as they are called by the locals.
By mid-day the clouds have become a very dimensional awesome sky
The above photo was shot at around 9:00 am. By 1:00 pm the clouds have begun to drift off spreading showers in the mountains.
