Bernie enjoys working with the hand tools of his trade. He was a   sheet metal worker for 30 years. After those many years of working on the road the artist decided to stay home and work with his tools, with a new focus.

Combining the knowledge of what can be done with the tools and his interest in Native Americans, Bernie began turning out work never before seen.

This piece is available @ $9,000.00

Bernie looks forward to working on commission  pieces for clients.  Working together, artist and client can create a piece customized to the client's specifications.

Bernie's copper pieces are not painted. The colors come from the use of heat and or acid.

Bernie's work  can be found  in a few places as entry way  pieces.  This 24 feather ceremonial bonnet  was placed in a home in the Steamboat Lake area.

The summer of 1986 was very productive for Bernie.

Working as he did for 30 years using the tools that were introduced to him at age 12, Bernie began producing tangible  items formed and understood by his imagination.

The "Eagle Dancer" was first shown and judged at the Steamboat Springs Arts Council summer show of  1986. Bernie won People's Choice award from that show in Steamboat.

Jacqueline Rochester, the juror of that first show said to Bernie, " You work well with negative space." referring to the inference of human shape in his work.

This piece is available @ $4,100.00

The photos below are pieces in progress. Bernie plans to present photos of "works in progress" on future up-dates. Check this site monthly to see the updates.

The bust and other free standing  pieces  sit on  bases of four horseshoes.

The shoes represent the great gift of the horse to mankind.

When you think about it, the horse presented a new way to live for all of mankind.

The four shoes on the  bases are opened to the four winds, drawing  power to the piece.
